There is no ‘one size fits all’ diet

When most people, including doctors and government bodies such as the USDA  are commenting on nutrition they tend to think only in very simple terms; calories, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. ‘One size fits all’ plans, such as the government recommendations found at www.healthierus.gov/dietaryguidelines, the Atkins Diet, the Fat Flush Diet, or any one of the other hundreds of ‘diets’ that are touted by anyone and everyone are all examples of this kind of eating, which do help some people achieve weight loss, some of the time, but most often do nothing for long term health. Plus they don’t work for everyone. Why? Well, there are two reasons; firstly, they ignore food quality, which is of paramount importance, especially in today’s toxic world, and secondly they don’t take into account that every single person is different on a physiological level. Dietary changes that can help one person achieve weight loss and extra energy can lead to weight gain and lack of energy in another, or even in the same person at a different time in their lives.

Holistic Nutrition

Most of these diets also ignore the fact that the environment in which we eat and live also plays a major role in determining how healthy we are. It is this ‘big picture’ approach which I call holistic nutrition. Not only are you what you eat, but you are also what you drink, what you put on your skin and what chemicals you come into contact with on a regular basis.

How I can help

My company Flourish with Food offers advice and guidance in all of these areas when compiling individual eating programs, as they are all so intertwined. Not only does everyone have a unique physiology and constitution which determines what foods and lifestyle choices are best for them (and conversely which are the worst and can lead to premature aging, degenerative disease and physical and mental ill health) but eating even the healthiest diet will not provide optimum results if at the same time you don’t take steps to eliminate or reduce environmental toxins.

Clients participating in the holistic nutrition program offered by Flourish with Food can either choose to have just a single session to cover the basics, or a complete personalized 12 week anti-aging plan. This last option covers all of the ways in which lifestyle and food changes can dramatically improve overall health and wellness, addresses specific health issues of concern, and outlines all of the foods which are best suited to a client’s individual physiology. Both Western and Eastern nutritional approaches are used where appropriate.

Investing in your health – a free 15 minute initial consultation

The charge for a one on one consultation is $80.00 per hour, with a free 15 minute initial phone conversation. I also recommend that you have a computer generated food analysis for an additional $40.00, but this is optional. The initial meeting can be in your home (up to 20 miles radius of Sierra Summit, Reno)  as I can then offer suggestions on restocking both your pantry and refrigerator, and specific issues connected with cookware and environmental toxins can also be discussed. However if you prefer you are welcome to visit my own kitchen, and I will travel to locations outside of Reno by arrangement.

Additional services offered include an accompanied shopping trip and weekly / monthly follow up phone calls which are $40.00 for 30 minutes.

The 3 month anti-aging program is $500.00; as an initial payment of $250.00 and a second payment of $250.00 one month later, and includes:

  • a 1h meeting in person every 2 weeks at my home
  • a weekly 30 min phone call
  • monthly computerized food analyses
  • a monthly shopping trip to Whole Foods Reno
  • unlimited email correspondence
